Participants must be at least 18 years old and have normal hearing. There are no restrictions on language or country of origin, though you must read English well enough to be able to understand the instructions.
The task involves listening to words and saying whether or not you have already heard the word earlier in the experiment. You shouldn't worry too much about your answers - we are simply interested in what kinds of things will help you better remember having heard a word.
This experiment can be completed anytime and anywhere that is convenient for you, provided that you have reliable access to the internet and a good pair of headphones. This experiment should not be done over computer speakers as this would make the task more difficult for you.
If you are interested in taking part, please send an email to Dr Katie Drager at: kdragerAThawaii.edu. In the email, be sure to state your name, where you grew up (town/city,state/country), and who your instructor is. If you are in Unit Mastery, please note this in your email.
Shortly after we have received your email, you will be sent a link and a code for participation in the experiment.
Once you have completed the experiment, the LBC forms will be sent to your instructor who will give them to you to fill out. For students in Unit Mastery, the forms will be available for pick-up from the Unit Mastery room. Please allow two weeks for the forms to be available. If you have any questions about the experiment, please don't hesitate to ask.
